Most Interesting People in The World - Part II
Meet Leah! She is the IDEAS Operational Director of India and one of our most interesting people in the world!
Leah is a wife, mother of two and an advocate for justice. When she's not traveling the world to help bring awareness for the marginalized in India, you'll find her at the local coffee shop or helping her kids with homework. She loves sharing the vision of how people can leverage their skills to restore hope and giving them the opportunity to make a significant impact in India.
So Leah, what do you do for a living?
I am a professional fund raiser and resource development specialist. I visit with people and do my two favorite things: drink coffee and talk about the transformational work going on in India today among the poor and marginalized.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is helping people finding ways to live out their passions. Helping people see that they can be a part of strategic work going on around the world. Sewing into people the same excitement I have for India. Seeing firsthand people of all ages passionately use their professional skills to achieve powerful, long-lasting results that change people's lives. Seeing young professionals realize potential they never thought they had, all the while thriving in a cross-cultural setting
Why should people join you in your work?|
It's the best, most fulfilling work in the world! Our work seeks to touch a whole nation with positive, eternal transformation. Our goals are huge - but our God is oh-so much bigger. Those who join with us in our work will learn lessons about life and themselves and the world that they couldn't learn at home. They will gain life experience and perspective that will mature them as individuals.
What are your biggest needs/opportunities for professionals?
We need professionals who want to use their own, specific professional skills in a cross-cultural, meaningful, transformational setting. Specifically:
- We need administrators to help facilitate the ongoing work around India.
- We need a huge number of people with excellent English language skills to come teach our teachers to speak better English.
- We need graphic designers and other IT people to help us with and , but also to help us implement our IT-based project across the nation.
- We need doctors, nurses and other medical professionals to staff our brand new 40-bed nurses training hospital that will impact the nation with healthcare workers for the poor.
Tell us something about you!
I am an over-the-top enthusiastic sports fan and exercise junkie who loves to cook and eat!
